Breeding options
We offer several breeding options to accommodate the needs of your female and breeding program.
Our stud fee is $1,000 for any of the below options.
Live cover
Live cover is available for females weighing
14 Ibs or less. Owners choosing this option will need to travel to Virginia for the breeding. To maximize the chances of a successful breeding, we can arrange two ties during your female's fertile window. A current negative Brucellosis test is required prior to any in-person breeding.
Side-by-Side Artificial Insemination (AI)
Side-by-side Al is an excellent option for females over 14 Ibs or those who are unable to breed naturally.
We are happy to provide a fresh collection for you or your veterinarian to perform the insemination. Please note, we do not inseminate client-owned females.
Chilled Shipped Semen
Our most popular option is overnighting chilled semen for breeders located outside of Virginia or the surrounding area.
Semen is shipped in a temperature-controlled transport container specifically designed for biological specimens. We use INRA 96 extender to help preserve semen quality and longevity during transit.
For best results, we recommend scheduling insemination as soon as possible after the shipment arrives, as sperm motility is typically highest upon delivery. Please coordinate with your veterinarian to ensure insemination can be performed the day the shipment is received.
Shipping is an additional cost based off exact FedEx overnight pricing to your zip-code. Most overnight shipments cost between $225 - $250.
Progesterone Timing
There are several methods and protocols used to determine optimal breeding timing. In our program, we typically breed our females two days after reaching a progesterone level of 5 ng/mL. While individual veterinarians may use slightly different protocols, this timing has consistently produced excellent results for us.
